![]() ![]() Most of the pi4, odroid n2, android boxes, nvidia shield, etc type devices draw 1-2 watts idle and 5-12 watts full out, obviously it's the nvidia shield drawing the up to 12 watts when playing games. Raspberry Pi is appealing but it's either twice the price of the TV box or the same price as the Windows Mini PC that can do more. If I go mini PC it'll be cool that I could do some light gaming, but the reviews also make me fear it's longevity. ![]() I'd go Android TV box but want to be certain it'll last. I could just use my laptop but I want something small and portable so I can plug it in to the TV at the places I live/work (camp work). ![]() So what do? I just want the cheapest solution to attach Kodi to my external hard drive of legally downloaded content and to a TV. īut then I checked the reviews and it's the same issue, perhaps 10% of the best Mini PC reviews are of them failing within months. In fact, it would come with everything built in and theoretically faster, with integrated graphics and other Intel tech. To get a Raspberry Pi 4 with the heatsink case and everything is like $200, I could buy a Mini PC for that price. Then I'll have to go Raspberry Pi 4 or Mini PC. (or can I? If you know one that I could buy that has warranty and functioning customer service I'll do that). I was about ready to buy a $70 (Canadian) Android TV box but then I started looking at reviews about 15% of the best boxes seem to fail within a month. I just want the cheapest method by which to run my hard drive on my TV with Kodi as the interface, but without reliability issues. Raspberry Pi 4 looks great, but then I may as well get a Mini PC? But the Mini PC reviews also suggest reliability issues. TLDR: Android TV box is cheapest solution to attach hard drive to TV with Kodi, but I fear reliability issues.
